Talk on “Understanding the National Education Policy 2020″ #Aatmanirbhar Bharat”

“Understanding the National Education Policy 2020” a special discussion was organized under the aegis of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation. Our special guests were Dr. Parth Shah, Founder of the Center for Civil Society and co-founder of Indian School of Public Policy, and Shri Shakti Sinha, Director of Atal Bihari Bajpai Institute of Policy Research and International Studies, Gujarat.

Dr. Parth Shah shared his thoughts about National Education Policy saying that education policy should focus primarily on regulatory architecture of education. Center should not force their rules and regulations on states instead let states also decide about the structure of education on some extent. He said within education sector there should be different agencies for different functions just as telecom and finances. He added the centre of the education policy should be student only. Other points Dr Parth Shah made: the NEP vision is very important for science of learning, it is learner centric, focuses on early education, recognizes the importance of alternate modes of learning as well.

Our other guest Shri Shakti Sinha brought his thoughts on the discussion panel. He said the best thing about the NPE is its flexibility as it removes the barriers faced by student as course, time and choice. Shri Shakti Sinha said that global universities are multi-disciplinary. Universities should have wide variety of education. He threw light on the experiential learning or learning by doing. He said education is all about freedom and exploration.

Dr. Anirban Ganguly director of SPMRF thanked all the guests for bringing in interesting dimensions of thoughts on the discussion table.
