Salient Points of PM Modi’s inaugural address at INDOSAN – the India Sanitation Conference

• While no one likes dirt or dirty surroundings, the habit of cleanliness takes some effort to develop.

• Children are increasingly conscious about issues regarding cleanliness. This shows the Swachhata Abhiyaan is touching people’s lives.

• A healthy competition is now developing among cities and towns, for promoting cleanliness.

• If there is someone who furthered the cause of cleanliness more than me, it is the media. And, the media has done it very positively.

• Only budget allocations can’t further cleanliness. Even the idea of cleanliness is not a PM’s. People are doing so much across India.

• Like there was Satyagraha to free us from colonialism, today there has to be Swachhagraha to make India free from dirt.

• Things like reuse and recycle…they have been a part of our habits for a long time. We need to make these more technology driven.
