Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to recognize Pali as a Classical Language, saying that it would play a crucial role in restoring respect for the age-old traditions of Leh, Ladakh.
Speaking at a conference on the Pali language and Buddhism organized by the All Ladakh Gonpa Association (ALGA) in Leh, Chugh commended the organizers for their exceptional efforts in promoting the initiative.
Highlighting the universal values of peace and non-violence, which were championed by Lord Buddha, Chugh also lauded Prime Minister Modi for his steadfast commitment to spreading Buddhist philosophy on the global stage. He urged everyone to continue advocating for Lord Buddha’s teachings, emphasizing their enduring relevance in the modern world.
Dr. Anirban Ganguly, Chairman of the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation (SPMRF), a think tank based in New Delhi, also addressed the gathering. Dr. Ganguly underscored the significance of Lord Buddha’s teachings and praised PM Modi’s dedication to preserving and promoting India’s Buddhist heritage.
The event was graced by His Eminence Drukpa Thuksey Rinpoche, who attended as the Chief Guest. On behalf of ALGA, His Eminence presented an appreciation letter to PM Narendra Modi, which was conveyed through Tarun Chugh, in recognition of the decision to include Pali as a Classical Language. Additionally, a memorandum was submitted to the Prime Minister, urging the inclusion of Bhoti in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
