LSSS Students Visit Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation, New Delhi

Gurugram: The Department of Liberal Studies and Social Sciences (LSSS) at SGT University organized an insightful industrial visit to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation (SPMRF), New Delhi. The visit comprised nine students from the B.A. (Hons with Research) Liberal Arts program, accompanied by two faculty members. The objective of the visit was to expose students to real-world academic research and policy analysis while fostering industry-academic collaboration.

SPMRF, a renowned national think tank, is engaged in groundbreaking research on key national issues. The visit provided students with the opportunity to interact with Dr. Anirban Ganguly, Chairman of SPMRF, and gain in-depth insights into various aspects of research, policymaking, and publication. Dr. Ganguly shared his experiences and expertise, guiding students on how to approach academic research and contribute to nation-building initiatives.

During the visit, students also had the privilege of attending an ongoing session of the ‘Young Scholars’ Dialogue on One Nation One Election,’ a prestigious academic forum that brings together researchers and scholars to discuss significant national policies. This hands-on exposure allowed students to understand the nuances of research presentations and policy discussions, giving them valuable experience in the field of social sciences and governance.

An exciting development following this visit was the initiation of discussions regarding a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SPMRF and LSSS. The proposed MoU aims to establish collaborative ventures, including organizing academic events, workshops, and student placements at SPMRF. This collaboration will open new avenues for students to engage in policy research and contribute to academic discourse at a national level.

Additionally, SPMRF extended a token of appreciation to all visiting students and faculty members by gifting them a book. This gesture was well received and further emphasized the foundation’s commitment to fostering academic growth and knowledge dissemination.

The industrial visit was a significant milestone for LSSS students, allowing them to experience firsthand the dynamic world of think tank research and policymaking. The interaction with experts and participation in discussions enriched their understanding of contemporary issues and the role of academic research in shaping national policies. The faculty members accompanying the students also found the visit highly beneficial in terms of academic collaborations and potential research opportunities.

SGT University continues to provide its students with industry exposure and academic-industry partnerships, ensuring that they remain at the forefront of research and professional growth. With the promising MoU in the pipeline, LSSS looks forward to strengthening its ties with SPMRF, offering students unique learning experiences and a platform to contribute to national and international research initiatives.

The visit to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation was an inspiring and informative experience for the students, further reinforcing the importance of research and policymaking in nation-building. This initiative by LSSS aligns with its commitment to providing holistic education and empowering students with knowledge and practical exposure to real-world academic challenges.
